Great article over on the Antique Trader website about vintage Santa Claus dolls. Lots of pix. The focus is on the dolls made for the baby boomer generation (that's me!).
"... A "golden age of toy Santas" came about when 78.3 million Baby Boomer children (born 1946-64) created an immense market for huggable, sturdy Santa toy dolls. ..."

The Victorian cloth Santa doll at right was made in 1889. It sold for $275 in a June 2005 auction The example shown above left is a later reproduction of the older style.
